The best outreach message starts with a problem…

I had an interesting call last week with a founder building a sales tech platform.

Smart product. Strong team.

But like many early-stage companies, they were running into a very common challenge.

They were sending outreach… and not getting the replies they hoped for.

So we stepped back and looked at the real question:

What problem do your prospects already know they have?

Because most outreach fails for a simple reason.

It talks about the product/service instead of the problem.

Sales leaders don’t wake up thinking:

“I need a new AI tool.”

They wake up thinking things like:

“Our reps aren’t consistent.”

“Why are some reps closing deals while others struggle?”

“Why can’t we replicate what our top performers do?”

Those are burning problems.

Problems they’re already trying to solve.

And that’s where outreach becomes much easier.

Instead of pitching your product…

You start solving the problem.

On that call, we talked about building a simple value offer around the insight their product naturally creates.

For example:

A short breakdown showing the biggest differences between top-performing reps and average reps across hundreds of companies.

Or a quick video explaining three sales process patterns high-growth teams are using right now.

Not an elaborate pitch.

Just insight.

Something genuinely useful.

When the first message offers help like that, two things happen:

First, prospects are much more likely to reply.

Second, the call that follows feels less like a demo and more like a consulting conversation.

That’s the real goal.

You’re not trying to “convince” someone to buy.

You’re showing them that you understand a problem they care deeply about.

And once they see that, the conversation becomes natural.

This is the same principle we use when building outreach campaigns.

  1. The specific ICP

  2. The problem they already know they have

  3. A small value offer that starts solving it
