3 Step Framework to Generate Leads

They sell a quantitative ETF to financial advisors.
Tough audience. Heavy compliance. Inboxes flooded daily.
On the call we aligned on a simple truth: even in “hard to provide value up front” industries, you can lead with value without breaking rules.
You just need the right kind of value and the right format.
That’s where AI, lightweight video, and fast research come in.
Here is the 3-step play we use and you can copy it for your business this week:
Step 1: Generate a one-page, no-risk insight with AI
As many of you know, I call this a “Value Offer”.
Goal: give the prospect something they would pay to receive, without asking for a meeting.
-For regulated or complex offers, keep it educational and comparative, not promissory.
-Use Perplexity to pull recent, credible public info: industry trends, competitor positioning, common objections, compliance notes, product comparisons.
-Feed the best sources into ChatGPT and ask for a concise, one-page summary with 3 specific findings and 2 simple actions.
-Wrap it as a “Snapshot” or “Quick Scan,” not a pitch.
Think titles like:
“Advisor Conversation Starter: 3 market narratives raising client questions this quarter”
“ETF Landscape Snapshot: fees, volatility bands, and 2 talking points clients ask about”
Other B2B ideas you can try out today:
-IT services: “Microsoft License Overspend Checker” one-pager from public job posts and pricing pages.
-HR consulting: “Employer Brand Gap Scan” pulling Glassdoor themes and career-page clarity.
-Logistics: “Lane Risk Snapshot” using public carrier scores and on-time stats.
Step 2: Ask permission with a short, personal opener
Goal: start a conversation by offering help, not asking for time.
Use a 2–3 sentence message or email that proves it is for them and ends with a low-friction question. Keep the tone peer-to-peer.
Template you can steal:
“Caught your update on [specific initiative]. Leaders in your seat are fielding client questions about [issue] right now. I can put together a one-page snapshot comparing [X vs Y] and two talking points your team can use. Would that be useful if I send it?”
For the ETF firm, that becomes:
“Saw your last note to advisors on client education. Many are getting questions about volatility and fees. I can put together a one-page comparison of how major ETF categories behaved last quarter plus two talking points advisors can use. Want me to send it?”
Why this works:
It’s specific, permission-based, and it offers something they can use without a call. That lowers defenses and raises reply rates.
Step 3: Deliver the asset and compound it
Goal: give the value quickly, then turn one reply into a growing list and better calls.
-Build the one-pager in Gamma or Canva using the AI summary.
-Record a 90-second Loom walkthrough so they can share it internally.
-Include a “If useful, I can create the expanded version” line with one clear next step.
-Gate the PDF behind your email list or, if you deliver directly, add them to a nurture sequence with their OK.
-Save the prompt and the template so you can repeat this weekly for new prospects.
Here’s the compounding effects:
-You will capture the in-market leads now and add not-yet-ready leads to your newsletter so you can nurture them over weeks and months.
-You will also set up better calls, because people arrive having already received something helpful. They show up with gratitude, not skepticism.
Here is how this looked in practice on that call…
The prospect believed “our audience will not engage unless we pitch the fund.”
We reframed the first touch as an educational snapshot advisors can use with their clients.
No pitch. No promises.
Just a helpful asset tied to the product’s strength.
And the results?
They’re now booking 3 - 6 calls per week, have already generated 4 new partnerships, and we’re expanding this strategy across another 3 - 4 people in the organization.
Same team. Same product. Different first step.
